This multi-instrumental band plays contemporary music whose roots go way back to their Irish immigrant ancestors who settled in Australia;  where dances, tunes, songs and stories were not just their entertainment but the centre of their culture and identity.  

Gradually, the Irish music took on a distinctive Australian flavour;  old sounds found new words and dances were modified or reinvented, till a truly Australian dialect of Celtic-Anglo music evolved, flavoured, of course, by many other cultural influenced along the way. The Home Rule Band has taken their music to many parts of Australia and overseas, particularly Ireland and Germany.
